Dahl by Devina is an incredibly delicious and versatile dish that is rich in protein, high in fibre and low in fat. A nourishing, wholesome meal that can be prepared in three simple steps in under ten minutes. Add your choice of vegetables to tantalize your taste buds, serve it with rice or naan, or savour it on its own.

INGREDIENTS

Toor Dahl (Pigeon Pea), Moong Dahl, Masoor Dahl (Red Split Peas), Olive Oil, Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Hing (Asafoetida), Dried Ginger Powder, Granulated Garlic, Dried Red Chili, Dried Curry Leaves, Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves), Tumeric, Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Garam Masala, Aamchur Powder, (Dried Unripe Mango Powder).

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a medium saucepan, add ½ cup dahl premix, 1 teaspoon of salt (or to taste), 3 cups of  water and mix well. Put on medium-high heat.
  2. Bring dahl gently to the boil, stirring occasionally till mixture thickens. Add water to adjust consistency, as required.
  3. In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil. Add Tempering Sachet stir with dry spoon and let the tempering splutter. Add tempering mix to cooked dahl, mix well, and serve.

Optional: add chopped coriander for authentic Indian taste!

Serve with rice, roti, naan and condiment of choice. Enjoy!
